Daily, Weekly or Monthly Scissor Lift Rental: Which Saves Most?

Many customers book a scissor lift by the day because it feels more flexible. For any project that runs longer than a few days, though, the daily rate is usually the most expensive option.
This guide compares daily, weekly and monthly rental, shows the break-even point for each and shares scheduling tips so your project budget stays under control.
Base Rates for Each Rental Period
Here are guide rate ranges for the most frequently hired units. Actual rates depend on your location, availability and the exact length of your project.
- Mini Electric 6–8 m: RM300–500 per day, RM1,500–2,800 per week, RM4,500–7,500 per month.
- Standard Electric 10–12 m: RM500–800 per day, RM2,800–4,500 per week, RM7,500–12,000 per month.
- Diesel Rough-Terrain 6–12 m: RM600–900 per day, RM3,500–5,500 per week, RM9,000–15,000 per month.
In general, weekly rates are about 15–20% cheaper than daily rates, and monthly rates can save up to 30–40%. The full table for every unit is in scissor lift rental price 2026.
The Break-Even Point Between Rates
Take a Standard Electric unit at the lowest rate as an example. At RM500 a day, five working days come to RM2,500, close to the RM2,800 weekly rate. After day five or six, the weekly rate is almost certainly cheaper.
For longer periods, the RM7,500 monthly rate equals roughly 15 days at the daily rate. If your project is expected to run beyond two and a half to three weeks, ask for a monthly quote.
Quick Guide
- 1 to 4 working days: the daily rate is usually the most sensible.
- 5 to 14 days: the weekly rate is almost always cheaper.
- 3 weeks or more: compare against the monthly rate.
- Multi-month projects or several units: ask for a package quote.

When the Daily Rate Fits Best
The daily rate suits small jobs with a clear scope that can be finished in one or two shifts. Examples include changing lobby lights, repairing air-conditioning at a high ceiling or mounting shop signage.
Our minimum hire is one day, so you never pay for more than you need. With delivery within two hours in the Klang Valley, you can also book same-day when the work is urgent.
When the Weekly Rate Is Better Value
The weekly rate suits moderate renovation work, ceiling painting, sprinkler installation or exhibition set-up that takes several days. It also leaves room for days lost to rain or late materials.
Protect Yourself From Delays
In Malaysia, afternoon rain can halt outdoor work at height for hours. A weekly rate shields you from that risk because disrupted days do not add cost directly, unlike the daily rate.
When the Monthly Rate Is the Best Choice
Construction projects, M&E installation in new buildings or scheduled maintenance at large factories usually need a machine on site for weeks. In these cases the monthly rate delivers the biggest savings.
For construction sites a diesel unit is usually the better fit. Read electric vs diesel scissor lifts to make sure you rent the right type for a long hire.

Worked Examples for Three Projects
To make comparison easier, here are three typical projects priced at the lowest rate in each guide range. Real figures will vary by location and unit, but the logic stays the same.
Project A: Warehouse Lighting, 3 Days
A Mini Electric unit at RM300 per day comes to RM900 for three days. The RM1,500 weekly rate is higher, so the daily rate is the right call for a job this short.
Project B: Mall Ceiling Painting, 9 Days
A Standard Electric unit at RM500 per day comes to RM4,500 for nine days. Two weeks at the RM2,800 weekly rate is RM5,600, but one week plus two daily days is only RM3,800. Ask us to work out the best combination for your period.
Project C: M&E Installation, 5 Weeks
A Standard unit on the daily rate for 25 working days comes to RM12,500. A monthly rate from RM7,500 makes the saving substantial, even after allowing for the extra week.

Costly Scheduling Mistakes
The most common mistake is booking the machine before preparation work is finished. The machine waits on site for days while other teams finish up, and those days still count.
The second mistake is returning the machine too early, then hiring again the following week. Two short rentals are almost always more expensive than one continuous hire, plus you pay for delivery twice.
Scheduling Tips
- Confirm when preparation work will be finished before booking the machine.
- Group all work at height into a single rental period.
- Add a weather margin if the work is outdoors.
- Check operator requirements early; see operators and site preparation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I extend a daily hire into a weekly one?
Yes. If the job takes longer than expected, let us know as early as possible and we will review a better rate based on the total period.
Does the monthly rate include maintenance?
Confirm this when booking. For long hires, agree an inspection schedule so the machine stays in good condition throughout the project.
What if the project is cancelled or postponed?
